    Bachelor's Degree in Social Work

    Pursue a BSW at UWI, UTech, or NCU. The BSW is the minimum qualification for professional social work practice in Jamaica.

    Complete the supervised field placement that forms part of the degree. Note that social work is not yet a licensed profession in Jamaica - there is no statutory council - so employers rely on your qualification, placement and references. Licensure has been proposed but is not in force.

    Work as a Social Worker (SWG/PS 1) in a Ministry, parish council, or NGO. Handle case management, client assessments, and community outreach.
